One menu, six languages: serving tourists without reprinting anything
Every CharterPass POS shop gets its menu in Traditional Chinese, Simplified Chinese and English. Pro shops add AI-translated Japanese, Korean and French. Here is how it works.
Hong Kong dining rooms are multilingual by default: local regulars, mainland visitors, and tourists who read neither. A paper menu forces you to pick one audience. A QR menu does not.
Three languages out of the box
Enter your menu once, in the language you work in. Every shop on CharterPass POS serves it in Traditional Chinese, Simplified Chinese and English — Simplified is converted automatically, so you never maintain two Chinese menus.
Diners pick their language on the ordering page, and item names, descriptions and options like 少冰 (less ice) or 走甜 (no sugar) all follow.
Japanese, Korean and French on Pro
Pro shops can switch on AI translation for Japanese, Korean and French. The system translates your menu — names, descriptions, add-ons — and you can review and edit any line before it goes live. A Japanese tourist orders in Japanese; your kitchen ticket still prints in the language your kitchen reads.
Why this matters for the kitchen
Translation is only half the job. The other half is that the kitchen ticket stays consistent: whatever language the diner ordered in, the printed ticket uses your kitchen's language, so nothing is lost between the table and the stove.
Setting it up
- Enter your menu in the Menu tab (or import it with AI from a photo of your paper menu).
- Languages are on automatically — check the customer preview.
- On Pro, open Menu → Languages and toggle on the extra languages.
Create your shop and your menu is multilingual from day one.
